Puppy Application Checklist:
Before completing a puppy application, please take a few minutes to make sure you have considered the following:
☐ Research the Standard Poodle breed and make sure their size, temperament, energy level, grooming requirements, training needs, and overall characteristics are a good fit for your lifestyle.
☐ Make sure everyone involved in the decision is on the same page. This includes your spouse, parents, landlord, or anyone else whose approval or involvement is necessary before bringing a puppy home.
☐ If you rent your home, confirm that your landlord allows Standard Poodles and that you are permitted to have a dog of this size.
☐ If you are applying for a puppy that is currently available, make sure the puppy’s expected go home date works with your schedule. (Please consider work, vacations, upcoming moves, holidays, and other major commitments before applying.)
☐ Understand that puppy applications are valid for 6 months. If you are not ready for a puppy within that timeframe, please wait to apply until you are closer to being ready.
☐ Read through our website, including our Puppy Information, Pricing, Health Guarantee, Contract, and FAQ pages. Many of your questions may already be answered there!
☐ Consider the financial commitment of owning a Standard Poodle. This includes not only the initial puppy price, but also routine veterinary care, grooming, food, training, supplies, and unexpected medical expenses.
☐ Have a plan for your puppy’s first few weeks home. Consider who will care for the puppy during the day, how long they will be left alone, and how you will handle potty training, crate training, exercise, and adjustment.
☐ Think about your long term plans. A puppy is a commitment for many years, so consider future changes such as moving, having children, changes in employment, travel, or other major life events.
☐ Be prepared to answer questions honestly and thoroughly. Our application is not simply about determining whether you can purchase a puppy. It helps us learn about your home, lifestyle, experience, and what you are looking for so we can determine whether one of our puppies is a good fit for you.
